Urology goes mainstream
By Joel R. Cooper, The Medical Reporter

Urology is the medical sub-specialty concerned with the diagnosis and treatment, surgically or otherwise, of diseases and disorders of the genitourinary tract. Most people never see a urologist, unless they have problems that can't be resolved in the primary care setting. But it turns out that many folks have reasonable questions about the genitourinary region of the body -- questions, for instance, about urinary incontinence (bladder control problems), impotence, kidney stones, urinary tract infections, and more. And, yes, there are things you can be doing in a preventive sense to keep your "pipes" flowing freely.

Now, you can get information on urology in a down-to-earth, readable format...from someone who knows the subject best: a practicing, board certified urologist and clinical instructor of urology at Albert Einstein Medical Center and the New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens. The man's name is Dr. Moss, and he publishes a quarterly newsletter called "Urology & You." (No foolin'...that's the title).

I've seen sample copies and it's good stuff -- not condescending and oversimplistic, but not the dry, technical stuff you'd expect to see in a medical publication, either. This Dr. Moss guy likes to write and enjoys communicating with his patients, and it shows. A one-year subscription to his newsletter costs $19.95. To subscribe, send a check or money order to Edward Moss, M.D., 104-20 Queens Blvd., Forest Hills, NY 11375, (718) 275-7440.
